Yoga for traffic and frustration

This is a really quick blog I just had to write after yesterday. I don't know why but the traffic to and from Shepherds bush to Roehampton was terrible yesterday. I mean, I was expecting to see a 4 car pile up with bodies being removed when I got to the lane but nothing was there. Just slow moving, heavy traffic. It makes my blood boil. I question what is it about London that keeps me here!
So being a Yoga teacher has certain advantages. I get to put into practice what I teach. Alas, yesterday, no such clarity of mind was present! AND that's the magic word. Being PRESENT. There are so many things I could have done while I was in my car. Here are my top 3!
1. Use a headset and call my friends or family. I could even have been making business calls.
2. Play an audio, a cd or a meditation. Soothing music, or affirmations would have been great.
3. Practice mindfulness meditation. Eminating peace and tranquility in a stressful situation not only helps my state of mind but also has an impact on the environment.
So there you have it, three easy ways to practice Yoga in your car. What? You were expecting a modified sun salutation, lol. Yoga Asana or the poses and postures make up only one of the eight limbs of Yoga. FInding peace in a world of madness requires that we learn and practice all eight. No idea what I am talking about? Get yourself to a workshop to find out more, just dont expect to know everything after 2 hours. We didn't become who we are overnight, so don't expect to unpick the tapestry of chaos and stress overnight. Take it easy and get to know yourself again over time.
